5. How many contract notices does DCI search through on an average day?
DCI searches through hundreds of Defense–related sources every working day, matching contract opportunities relevant to your unique business profile, which are then emailed to you on a daily basis.
6. Does DCI search both contract notices and awards?
Yes. When compiling your personal profile you have the option to search for new contract notices and/or contract awards. By selecting contract awards you will be able to identify subcontracting opportunities and monitor the activities of your competitors. To receive both contract notices and contract awards, select ´both´ in the ´contract types´ section of ´my profile´. If you choose to receive both contract notices and contract awards, these will be divided into separate categories within your results.
7. Can I search for past notices?
Yes. Using the contract search service within the Members Area you can search for contracts published in the past three months. You can also access your Profile History to view contracts previously sent. In addition we offer an archive service (upgrade required) to view contracts from a specific year.
8. When do I receive contract notices and market intelligence that match my profile?
Receiving your contracts and market intelligence direct via the DCI service is easy. Every working day before 10am, you will receive an email with an attachment containing all new defense contract notices that match your profile and a separate email with an attachment containing all market intelligence information matching your market monitor profile.
9. How do I build my DCI profile?
A DCI profile consists of three main criteria: Keywords, CPV Codes and Countries.
Keywords
To reinforce CPV codes, you can enter key words and phrases applicable to your products and services. These words can either be complete words or open-ended ie: comput will find contracts containing the word: computer, computers or computing. When searching for a phrase, again you can search for a complete phrase or leave the last word of the phrase open-ended ie: Management Consult will find contracts containing the phrase: Management Consultancy, Management Consultants or Management Consulting. Smaller words that can be contained in part of a larger word (eg bus, car, pen) should be entered into the Exact Keywords area of the profile to prevent possible receipt of irrelevant contract leads.
CPV Codes
On submission, you will have chosen the Industry sector(s) relevant to your company´s business requirements. Each industry sector has had Common Procurement Vocabulary (CPV) codes (used to classify contract requirements) mapped to them, thus populating your contract alert profile with the relevant CPV codes within that sector.
Countries
From the drop down list, select the country or countries you wish to receive contracts from. If you do not select any countries you will receive contracts from all countries by default.
If you want to receive contracts from a certain country or region, you first need to select the relevant geographical area (e.g. Asia, Europe, UK etc). By clicking on the 'add all' option, you will ensure that you receive relevant contracts from ALL countries and/or regions in the selected geographical area.
If you only want to receive contracts from certain INDIVIDUAL countries within a particular geographical area, click on the relevant country in the list and select 'add country'. If selecting more than one country from a particular area, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard whilst selecting additional countries.
10. How do I change or amend my DCI profile?
You may update your profile online adding keywords or individual CPV codes using the edit contract profile function. You may amend your profile when ever you wish completely free of charge.
Update your profile today and get even more contract opportunities
The DCI Daily Email Alert service delivers Defense contract opportunities matching your organisation´s unique profile every working day. It also contains information on possible future purchases, giving you advance notification of Defense–related tenders and contracts, as well as contract award notices and sub–contract opportunities.
Amending your DCI alert profile
Refining your profile regularly will ensure that you receive relevant contract opportunities, assisting you to stay one step ahead of your competitors. Once logged into DCI Online at www.dcicontracts.com, you can amend your profile at any time and at no additional cost by visiting the Profile Management area in the Activity Centre.
11. Can I use exact keywords, abbreviations, acronyms and company names?
Yes. You can search for abbreviations, acronyms and company names as well as exact keywords. This facility is case-sensitive. These words cannot be left open-ended and DCI will only search for exact matches. If you were to insert the word ´pen´ it would exactly match the word ´pen´ and not find contracts which contain words such as ´penicillin´, ´pending´, ´penetration´ and ´pension´. By inserting a company name you will be notified of contracts that have been awarded to your competitors.
NB: Please ensure your selection is as specific as possible. It is not advisable to use words such as ´service´, ´information´, ´journal´, ´maintenance´, etc. These words are too generic and will provide you with irrelevant information. Exact keywords which are contained within your profile will be highlighted in your results.
Country lists
Widen or narrow your search area to the countries you specifically wish to receive opportunities from.
Keywords and phrases
Check the keywords and phrases you have entered into your profile & do they still fit with your business requirements? Maybe you have expanded into other areas; if so, you will need to update your profile to track other opportunities. In addition we recommend that you check recently published contract opportunities to ensure that you have picked keywords in line with the buyers´ requirements. Updating your keywords and phrases on a regular basis will minimise the risk of missing lucrative contract opportunities.
CPV codes
If you have entered new keywords or phrases remember to then also search for the relevant CPV codes and paste them into your profile. Again, check past notices and add any relevant CPV codes to your profile.
12. Can I set my profile so that certain types of contract do not filter through?
Yes. DCI filters out contracts which are not relevant, and allows you to input keywords, allowing you to spend more time concentrating on the contract opportunities, which are going to win you new business. For example, you may work within the manufacturing industry and have the keyword ´manufacturing´ contained within your profile but you may not deal with the manufacture of weapons. By including ´weapons´ in the Omit Keywords section, you will only receive contracts related to manufacturing that do not contain the keyword ´weapons´.
13. Can I set my profile so that I only receive notices from certain organisations?
Yes, with DCI not only can you elect to receive notices of specific supplies, services and works opportunities, you can also elect to receive notices from specific organisations. You can even ask DCI to notify you of contracts that have been awarded to your competitors, thereby providing you with a unique market intelligence service.
14. How does the online service work?
With DCI, you not only receive a daily email alert containing new Defense–related contract/tender opportunities but also have 24/7 direct online access via the DCI website to all of BiP Solutions´ contract announcements, allowing you to search and track thousands of live contract and tender opportunities at no extra charge. You can search through open contracts, awarded contracts, suppliers, issuing authorities, issue dates, locations and many more search terms. Once found, notices can be viewed, printed or stored.

15. What are CPV codes?
CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) codes have been developed by the European Union specifically for public procurement. Their main purpose is to help procurement personnel to classify their contract notices consistently and correctly and to help suppliers find the notices which are of interest to them by using a standardised
Using the searchable database, you select CPV codes relevant to your products and services and paste them into your profile. You can conduct as many searches as necessary. Please remember to paste your selected codes after each search. CPV codes which are contained within your profile will be highlighted in your results.
16. Does DCI search by keywords and phrases?
Yes. To reinforce CPV codes, you can enter additional keywords and phrases applicable to your products and services. These words can either be complete or open-ended, e.g. ´comput´ will find contracts containing the word ´computer´, ´computers´ or ´computing´. When searching for a phrase, you can again search for a complete phrase or leave the last word of the phrase open-ended, e.g. ´Management Consult´ will find contracts containing the phrase ´Management Consultancy´, ´Management Consultants´ or ´Management Consulting´.
If you want to find exact words only, e.g. contracts which contain the words ´Management´ and ´Consultancy´ (but not together as a phrase) then you would need to insert these words individually under Exact Keywords. Keywords and phrases which are contained within your profile will be highlighted in your results.
17. Can I monitor my competitors?
Yes, simply enter your competitors´ names in the Exact Keywords section. Please remember to include any abbreviations.
18. Can I specify my interest in notices from specific countries
Yes, simply select those countries you want to receive contract notices from. You can choose from the list provided and make your choice as limited or as comprehensive as you wish. If there is a country which does not appear in the list provided, you can enter it as a keyword.

To ensure that your profile is working for your organisation, you should review the statistics which are contained at the bottom of every email that is dispatched to you. The statistics will show you how often keywords or CPV codes are included in the contracts delivered to you; you can then, if necessary, amend your profile accordingly.
You can also go online to analyse your daily alert contract statistics through My DCI. By examining the results and identifying trends you can collate the information required to adjust your profile and improve the volume and relevancy of contracts received.
22. In what format will I receive my daily email alert?
Following completion of your DCI profile, you will receive your contract opportunities as HTML files. However, you may choose to receive these as text only or zipped–HTML. Please click on Preferences within your profile if you wish to change delivery format.
23. Can I request additional email addresses?
