How To Get Cyber Essentials Certified?
Obtaining certification through DCI is very straightforward. It takes just four simple steps.
When you receive your certificate you will also receive the relevant Cyber Essentials branding to use on collateral such as tender bids for one of the many defence contracts available through DCI.
Who Are Involved In The Application Journey?
The application journey will differ slightly depending on whether you choose Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus. The stages are outlined below but timescales may differ depending on the applicant’s completion of each stage.
Regardless of which product level you choose, there are three clear stages, you will go through in order to obtain your Cyber Essentials certification.
1 – Your purchase through DCI will give you access to the self-assessment questionnaire, which is completed online. You do not have to complete the questionnaire in one go. You can save your questionnaire at any point, return to it later and submit for review at your leisure. However, we would advise that you complete and submit your questionnaire as quickly as possible in order to obtain your Cyber Essentials certification.
2 – Once you submit your completed questionnaire via the online form, we will review your application and liaise about any gaps or additional information required in order to approve your application and submit it to the awarding body, QG Business Solutions Ltd.
If you have chosen to apply for Cyber Essentials Plus, it is at this stage that we will arrange a suitable date and time to visit your premises and conduct the more stringent tests required for this level of certification.
3 – The awarding body, QG Business Solutions Ltd, will then issue your certification, confirming that you are Cyber Essentials certified for the next 12 months.
What Questions Does The Cyber Essentials Self Certification Ask?
There a total of 8 sections within the Cyber Essentials Questionnaire with each section having a particular focus on the key controls that Cyber Essentials requires.
The main objective of the Cyber Essentials assessment is to determine that your organisation has effectively implemented the controls required by the scheme, in order to defend against the most common and unsophisticated forms of cyber attack. You must complete this questionnaire in conjunction with the document Cyber Essentials – requirements for IT Infrastructure 06/02/2017.
